Earlier this year, a major milestone in multinational defense readiness unfolded in the Nevada desert as Red Flag / Green Flag 2025 brought together leading air forces from around the world for one of the world’s most advanced combat training exercises. Hosted at Nellis Air Force Base, the event emphasized not only tactical preparedness but also the growing importance of international military partnerships. Among the most prominent participants was the Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF), supported comprehensively by S&K Aerospace and S&K Logistics Services—trusted logistics partners for the RSAF since 2012. This year’s event once again demonstrated S&K’s ability to deliver mission-critical support at the highest operational standards.
Orchestrating the Complex: S&K at the Helm
Managing logistics for RSAF personnel across multiple locations is no small feat—but it’s a challenge S&K Aerospace embraced with precision. Preparation began months in advance, involving multiple planning meetings across multiple continents, from Spain to Saudi Arabia, New Jersey, and Nevada.
Matt Hellrung, Exercise Logistics Manager at S&K Aerospace, led a team of full-time employees and temporary staff, many of them military veterans with prior Red Flag experience. Together, they handled every detail, from hotel contracts and catering services to running 24/7 operational support centers and coordinating on-call transportation.
“Red Flag is all about collaboration, and our success supporting the Royal Saudi Air Force comes down to the strength of the team,” said Hellrung. “Everyone brings something important to the table, and that partnership is what makes the mission run smoothly.”
While Red Flag and Green Flag are best known for fast-paced air-to-air and air-to-ground combat simulations, it’s the ground support that ensures the mission’s success. S&K provided full-spectrum services for RSAF teams from start to finish—including mobilization and demobilization support—at King Fahad Air Base (Saudi Arabia), Morón Air Base (Spain), McGuire Air Force Base (New Jersey), Bangor International Airport (Maine), and Nellis Air Force Base (Nevada).
At each site, S&K delivered airfield logistics support, meals, lodging, transportation, communications, procurement services, and even same-day laundry. This year’s exercise marked the largest and longest RSAF deployment to Red Flag/Green Flag to date, showcasing S&K’s ability to scale operations and adapt to mission needs.
Distinguished Guests, Enduring Partnerships
Adding to the importance of this year’s event was a visit from Major General Talal Alghamdi, Deputy Commander of the RSAF. His presence underscored the diplomatic and military value placed on joint training and the strength of the U.S.-Saudi partnership. General Talal met with RSAF and U.S. personnel and observed operations first-hand, highlighting the strategic importance of these exercises.
Several other RSAF General Officers from headquarters and King Fahad Air Base also attended classified briefings at Red Flag and Green Flag. Abdullah Al-Amri, Senior S&K Aerospace representative at the Middle East Branch, was on-site at Nellis AFB to greet the delegation.
“It was an honor to meet with the RSAF Deputy Commander during the Red Flag exercises,” said Al-Amri. “Opportunities like this strengthen the mutual respect and understanding that make our partnership so effective. We’re proud to support their mission and look forward to continuing our work together.”
Looking Ahead: Building Trust, Growing Together
With another successful Red Flag / Green Flag behind them, S&K continues to reinforce its reputation as a trusted, innovative partner in global defense operations.
“Red Flag isn’t just a training exercise for us—it’s a reflection of the trust and friendship we’ve built with the Royal Saudi Air Force over the years,” said John Sims, President of S&K Logistics Services. “This kind of support deepens our connection and shows what’s possible when we work side by side.”
Mike Delaney, Vice President of Operations, added, “We’ve built a solid foundation with the RSAF, and it keeps getting stronger with every mission. We’re excited to welcome them back in the future and keep raising the standard of excellence.”
Thank you to all the S&K staff, temporary employees, support subcontractors, and RSAF personnel who made Red Flag / Green Flag 2025 a resounding success. Your teamwork and professionalism continue to inspire.
